Students of class IV & V accompanied with their teachers attended the session on Nutrition. Principal and Miss Parveen introduced the topic briefly. Dr. Ayesha started the session by describing the importance of a healthy diet.

Salient features of the session were:

  • Importance of healthy balanced diet according to the food pyramid.
  • Carbohydrate grain group should be your basic food of daily routine.
  • Meat is the primary source of energy among growing children.
  • Fruits & vegetables are rich in vitamins & minerals.
  • Energy needs vary depending on growth & activity.
  • Dairy group is essential for healthy bones & teeth.
  • Avoid junk food, sugary items & fizzy drinks. Prepare lunch boxes with colorful healthy fresh fruits & vegetables.
  • Plenty of water intake, 8 to 10 glasses / day.

Add variety to your child’s food.
