The Holy Month of Ramadan is the month of giving and a time to show support for the cause of humanity by helping the less privileged within our communities.
BVS Social Spirit Society took an initiative this year by serving Iftar on two Days i-e 14th and 15th April, 2022.
Iftar Drive Day 1
The first day of the Iftar Drive in the Holy Month of Ramadan was on Thursday, 14th April, 2022.
The Iftar Serving Team visited two places for the noble cause. The one was at Ida Rieu College for Blind and Deaf and the other one was Darul Sukun for Senior Residents.
The volunteers students and teachers reached School at 5:00pm. There were 19 volunteer students in total for Day 1. The Iftar Team packed the fruits and carried the food stuff in the van. By 5:55 pm, we were on our way.
Ida Rieu College for Blind and Deaf
The teachers who went to Ida Rieu were.
Mr. Aazar Fredrick Wilson, Ms. Rebecca, Ms. Shabana and Ms Uroosa with 9 volunteers.
Ida Rieu had 35 Students (boys and girls), with their Supervisor lady Ms. Shamim Sultana.
The Iftar Team unpacked the food items that the Iftar Drive Team brought for them which included dates, sharbat, fruits and Iftar boxes containing Sandwiches, juices, cake piece and samosas
The student volunteers and teachers of Grades 9-10 worked with heart and soul. From Sharbat making to fruits cutting and serving Iftar to the Blind and deaf students, it was done by them which was heartening to see.
We had a great time there. Ida Rieu is well constructed and the students are taken care of very well. We have promised them that we will visit them again. The volunteer students also mingled with their students and had a good time.
DARUL SUKUN IFTARI DRIVE
The members who went for Darul Sukun for an Iftari and lunch Drive were our Cambridge Head Mrs. Mehernaz Bharucha, Social Spirit Society Patron Ms. Sabra, Ms. Rozina, Ms. Nida, Ms. Badrunisa, Ms. Asma, Ms.Afshan and Ms Sidra with Grades 9 and 10 students.
First the preparation for the Iftari took place at Dar ul Sukun with the cutting of fruits,preparing sharbat and distributing the Iftari boxes to all the people fasting. All the teachers and students participated whole heartedly in the preparation of Iftari and later did Iftari with the senior members.
After that, the lunch boxes were served to all the people at Dar ul Sukun.
At around 7:55 both groups met at Main Numaish Area where they reached School and then went home.
It was a great day overall.
Iftar and Ration Distribution Drive at BVS
The Iftar and Ration Distribution Drive at BVS was conducted on 15th April, 2022 from 5:00pm to 8:30 pm.
The Iftar Team served Iftar followed by Rashan distribution under the supervision of Mrs. Mehernaz and Ms. Sabra Khan (Patron). The team comprises of all social Spirit Society Teachers namely Mr. Aazar Fredrick Wilson, Ms. Uzma Shoaib, Ms. Nida Hazari, Ms. Uroosa Manzar, Ms. Rozina Imran, Ms. Sadia Fareed, Ms. Rebecca Gill, Ms. Shabana Naveed, Ms. Afshan, Ms. Asma, Ms. Badrunisa Zahid, Ms. Sidra Khan and 25 student volunteers from Grades 8-10. The purpose behind this was to serve our dear Caretakers with respect and honour their duties. The Social Spirit Society arranged iftar followed by dinner. The event was well organized and managed and ended up with distribution of ration.
Special thanks to all the contributors who made these drives successful.
These activities made the students realize how blessed they are and they need to be thankful to God by giving them courage to help these people who are also an important part of our society.
