News Letter January 2023 – May 2023

Dear Parents and Guardians,

With the blessings of Almighty the second term of the calendar year 2022 – 2023 ended with a few hiccups but the school again did the best to complete its set of goals in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.

The Rapid Chess Tournament was organized by Mind Sports Association of Pakistan in partnership with Engro Corporation at Newport Institution on January 01, 2023 Muhamamd Sarim Hassan Razi of 10-D secured the Second position in U-16 category.

There was a Scrabble Tournament at Liaqat Library on 7th January 2023. It was organized by Pakistan Scrabble Association. Rishit Kumar of 10-D stood 2nd & Rohaan Ali of 11-D stood 3rd in the tournament.

The 4th Scrabble Ranking Tournament at BVS on 8th January 2023. Saad Ahmed of 10-B won the “The Champion” shield, Musaab Faridi of 4-B stood 5th & Syed Mubashir of 11-D stood 6th in Novice Category. Muhamamd Fawaz Ahmed of 7-E stood 4th in the Recreational Category.

BVS participated in MUNIK at IBA, one of the most prestigious conferences in South Asia from 10th-13th January 2023. We won the emerging delegation award, the first delegation award for BVS in MUNIK, as a token of the delegates amazing effort and performance.

There was an Inter-School Scrabble Tournament at the Beacon House North Campus on 21st January. Zayan Zaman Khan of 6-D stood 1st, Shahjahan Ahmed of 6-D stood 2nd in the same category. Zulfiqar Qureshi of 11-E stood 1st, Mubashir Naseem of 7-B stood 4th in Category B. Mujataba Naseem of 10-A, Fawaz Ahmed of 7-E top 10 in category C.

On January 25, 2023, Grade 9 A, B, C, D & E students visited Adult Blind Center. This center is essential for offering support, education, and rehabilitation services to individuals with visual impairments. They provide programs to help visually impaired adults develop vital life skills, receive mobility and vocational training, and learn about assistive technology.

The 23rd Gladiators Scrabble Championship was held at NJV School on 28th and 29th January 2023. Syed Muhamamd Ali of 2-Astood 3rd Category A. Ali Fahad of 5-C “The Champion” Category B. Muhamamd Anshal of 4-C stood 2nd Category B. Nafay Mansoori of 6-D stood 2nd Category D. Muhamamd Maaz Hassan Faridi of 7-C “The Champion”, Muhamamd Fawaz Ahmed of 7-E stood 2nd in Category E. Zulfiqar Ali Qureshi of 11-E “The Champion” and Muzammil Hassan of 10-D stood 2nd in Category H.

The Sohanjana Anti-Bullying Intervention is an initiative in Pakistan. 30th January,2023 onwards, BVS Parsi High School will dedicate one week to create awareness so that we train our students to become a buddy and not a bully.

The Primary Elocution Competition (2022-2023) was held on Tuesday 31st January 2023 in the School’s Khajoorina Auditorium. Ms. Chrislynn Lobo from St. Micheal’s Convent School and Ms. Hina Raheel from The Mama Parsi Girls’ Secondary School invited as a chief guest.

Group A: Syed M. Deebaj Rizvi (2-A) stood 1st Position, M. Umar Farooq (2-B) stood 2nd Position, M. Zaid Bin Talha (1-C) stood 3rd Position, Group B: M. Utbaa (4-C) stood 1st Position, Turab Haider (3-A) stood 2nd Position. Azlan Asad (3-C) stood 3rd Position, Group C: Arham Khan (5-B) stood 1st Position, Muhammad Bilal Zeeshan (5-C) stood 2nd Position, Rayan Fahad (5-A) stood 3rd Position, Muhammad Uwaim (5-B) stood 3rd Position.

The Navroji Ratanji Wadia Primary English Elocution Shield went to Arham Khan of Grade 5B.

On 9th February 2023, Deworming Campaign organized by School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh for the students aged (5 – 14 years) classes 1 till 10 which was supervised by the school’s Healthcare.

Auriga Scrabble and Chess Tournament was held at Nixor College on 11th February 2023. Rohaan Ali of 11-D stood 1st in Category A and Mujtaba Naseem of 10-A stood 2nd in Category B. Abdullah Khurram of 10-D stood 2nd in the overall category.

The Primary Section of BVS spread love, peace and joy on the fresh bright morning of February, 14th 2023 at BVS Parsi High School.

  • Grade 1 students wore pink heart crowns made by themselves.
  • Grade 2 students made paper plate hangings decorated with heart stickers.
  • Grade 3 students made wreaths with pink, red, white paper with decorations.
  • Grade 4 made shaped photo frames.
  • Grade 5 students made wind chimes with re-used material.

The City School A levels campus organized Go Municate Tournament on 21st and 22nd February 2023. Scrabble Senior’s Category: Muzammil Hassan of 10-D “The Champion”. Zulfiqar Qureshi of 11-E stood 2nd, Mujataba Naseem of 10-A stood 3rd &  Rohaan Ali of 11-D stood 4th. Scrabble Junior’s Category: Aehzam Ahmed Siddiqui of 7-E “The Champion”. Syed Maaz Hassan Faridi of  7-C stood 2nd, Muhamamd Bilal Asher of 6-D stood 3d & Fawaz Ahmed of 7-E of stood 4th. We received an overall 1st position shield in both category. Chess: Abdullah Khurram of 10-D “The Champion” & Eibad Ahmed Malik of 10-B stood 2nd. Picasso Art: Kabir Ali Arshad of 9-D stood  1st. Oratory Forum: Ali Noor of 10-D stood 1st & Ayan Nasir first runner-up Senior Category & Syed Jari Abbas Rizvi first runner-up Junior Category. 5th Scrabble Ranking Tournament at BVS Parsi High School, 60 players took part in it. Fawaz Ahmed of 7-E stood 1st, Rohaan Ali of 11-D stood 3rd in the Recreational Category. Syed Musab Hassan Faridi of 3-B 3rd in the Novice Category.

The Secondary Drama Festival was held on the 24th, 25th and 26th February, 2023. The English Literary and Dramatics Society performed their very own 75 minutes long version of “ARSENIC AND OLD LACE”. The Urdu Drama “LOG KIA KAHENGAY” directed and produced by the Urdu Dramatics society.

On March 1,2023, BVS HoodBhoy Science Society students organized a Science Exhibition at the school with the theme “Renewable Energy” in which students from classes 4 to 10 participated and made excellent working models under the supervision of their competent teachers.

A trip to the Dream World organized by the BVS Parsi High School for Grades 10 A/B/C &11 D/E on 4th March, 2023, students enjoyed the picnic by taking archery, horse riding, golf, water pool, buffet lunch, indoor games etc.  Students excitedly wait for this trip every year.

A team of 23 volunteers, accompanied by teachers visited the Sea View beach on Monday, March 6th, 2023. The Bvs Thunberg Society conducted a waste removal drive on the Sea View beach, an area of the coastline that is contaminated and polluted by visitors to the beach. The site is the epitome of garbage pollution, neglected and overlooked by the residents and concerned authorities. The BVS family therefore gathered volunteers for a Beach Cleaning Drive through the BVS Thunberg Society.

The Karachi Games Scrabble Tournament was held at BVS on 12th March, 2023. Mrs. Mehernaz Bharucha, the Principal of BVS Parsi High School was the Chief Guest for the occasion. U14: 2nd position Saad Vohra of 7-E stood 3rd position Muhammad Bilal Asher of 6-D. Aehzam Ahmed Siddiqui of 7-E stood 4th. Syed Maaz Hassan Faridi of 7-C stood 6th. U19 :1st Position Hasham Hadi (Batch of 2018). Mujtaba Naseem of 10-A stood 5th.

The 33rd International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest was held on 16th March, 2023 at BVS Parsi High School.  The implementation of the contest was excellent because of the overwhelming response of the students who were encouraged by the teachers to participate. The students and teachers put in their best efforts to make the contest successful like past years. Overall 229 students participated in almost all levels like Ecolier, Benjamin, Cadet and Junior level. The attendance on the day of the contest was 99%. Our students gave their best. They received certificates and rewards. Eibad Ahmed Malik of Grade 10 B was awarded Gold medal and received a gift of a Smart Watch. Muhammad Bilal Zeeshan of Grade 5C was awarded Silver Medal and received gift of Digital Kangaroo Logo bottle. Nine students of different grades were awarded Bronze Medal with USB Cable. Over all the Contest was successfully conducted.

The students of Grade 7ABCDE students of BVS parsi High School went on an Educational Trip to Bhit Shah and Hala city on 18th March 2023.The students visited the Ajrak factories and Sindh museum in Bhitt Shah and had a lot of fun. Also visited the Handicraft factories and had a lot of fun seeing the handmade items.

The Zoroastrian community of BVS family celebrated Jamshedi Navroze on Monday 20th March 2023, by spreading the traditional Haft sheen table. This table has seven items that start with the letter “S” and each item symbolizes something positive for the coming year.

BVS School recently conducted a Ramadan drive on April 7th to encourage its students and staff to observe the holy month in a meaningful way. The drive included a series of activities aimed at promoting the spirit of giving and compassion, such as organizing food donations and distributing Iftar meals to the needy.

This Ramadan, students from Grades 9, 10, and 11 visited to the Dar ul Sukun institution, which cares for special people, with provisions for iftar. This worthy cause was supported by a large number of students and teachers.

There was an International Virtual Scrabble Tournament on 11th May 2023 in which 8 countries participated on-line on woogles.io. Aehzam Ahmed Siddiqui of 7-E became the Champion of the tournament. Mujtaba Naseem of 10-A who stood 20th.

In May, 2023, Primary Activities for Art, Craft and Design. Fork painting done by Grade 1 ABC. Palm cards were made by Grade 2 ABC. Paper Handbags were made by Grade 3 ABC. All these craft activities were specially made for Mother’s Day

Keeping the classroom clean isn’t just the janitor’s job, so students of Grades 2 and 3 brought cleaning supplies from home and they were proud of their neat clean shiny classroom.

Students of Grades 1/2/3 walked into the school on their allotted dress up day dressed up as notable characters from movies, books, television, cartoons, sports. Many students chose to be Harry Potter, sports Icon Lionel Messi cricketers, Spiderman, batman etc.

Students of Grades 1 ABC brought in something favourite. This activity taught them about public speaking and share something new with their friends. Some students bought their pet birds in cage, photo album.

Selected Dads of Grades 1/2/3 came to school and took over the class of their son as teachers for that day.

BVS Management thanks the Dads who spared their precious time by coming over to school as teachers for the Day. Well Done Dads!!!

Students of Grades 3 ABC were briefed on the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) and had brought things from home which could be used for recycling. Something great and useful was made by students from recycled material and exhibited in the classrooms.

Grades 1/2/3 were taken to the Mausoleum of the Founder of the Nation. Grade 4 ABC went to Quaid-e-Azam House which is a house museum dedicated to the personal life. Grade 5 ABC went to the National Museum which is counted among the top museums in Karachi and showcases the cultural heritage of our beloved homeland in amazing ways.

This year students of Grades 1 to 8 watched the movie “The BAD Guys”, a highly entertaining and thrilling watch.

23rd May 2023, BVS Parsi High School’s 164th birthday. Special Blessing prayers by the students followed by a class photo taken in a special decorated photo booth. A small entertaining program comprising of birthday songs, talent show, Urdu and English speeches and a round of quiz specially formulated for Primary and Secondary was presented.

May the journey of  BVS ’ being the hub of excellence continue “ TOWARDS THAT BEST LIGHT ” always Ameen!
