Dear Parents / Guardians

As we roll into the second term for the academic session we pray sincerely that the New Decade brings peace and prosperity not only for our beloved country but for each and every human being and the entire world at large. May God Almighty Shower His blessings on all.

The BVS Chess players participated in the Anatoly Karpov Chess Tournament & displayed professionalism and won significant prizes. Maadhav Kumar (Grade 6-B) won the U14 Age Category title. Mohit Kumar of 8-B placed fourth in the same category. Saad Ahmed of 10-B stole the show and won the U18 Age Category.

BVS celebrated 14th August with great fervor and enthusiasm. After the National Anthem and the school song, lovely“Milli Naghmas” National Songs were sung by the boys. Four houses then competed by performing skits. UNITY WITH DIVERSITY by Soparivala House, CLEAN AND HEALTHY PEOPLE MAKE A HEALTHY PAKISTAN by Reza shah House, LET’S SAVE ENERGY- LETS SAVE PAKISTAN by The Quaid-e-Azam house and DISCRIMINATION–EDUCATION FOR ALL performed by Lancelot House. There was a pop quiz where books were given as gave away to the students.

“RHYTM OF UNITY” was the theme for houses to perform on and what great dances were performed by the boys. BVS salutes the boys who volunteered to dress as females. All houses performed on all themes prevailing in Pakistan. The Primary Section put up a fashion parade in the end with children from grades 2 to 5 dressed in diverse costumes from all over Pakistan. This was inclusive of the minority and their specific clothing. The House Points are Quaid e Azam house is 1st with 109 points, Rezashah house is 2nd with 100 points, Lancelot house is 3rd with 95.5 points and Soparivala house is 4th with 94.5 points.

The Principal’s Medal of academic excellence was awarded to: Muhammad Bilal Asher of 5 C (Primary), Osaid Ahmed of 6 C (Secondary) & Ebadullah Arshad of 6 D (Cambridge)

The 23rd Gladiators National Scrabble Championship was held at the NJV School from 19th – 21st August 2022. As always BVS boys brought pride to the school.

A Scrabble tournament was held on August 27th, 2022, sponsored by the Aga Khan Board for Garden & The Pakistan Scrabble Association. Arsh Farooq of 6-E took 1st place: Ages 10–12 division & Areesh of 4-B took 2nd palce: Ages 6 – 9 division. Both were awarded a Shield.

On September 4th ,2022, the Expo Center hosted the 22nd Gladiators Scrabble Championship. It featured 80 BVS Scrabble players. Mr. Nadeem Umar, owner of the Pakistan Super League team Quetta Gladiators, served as the chief guest. BVS showed great Sportsman Spirit and brought prizes in all the categories.

The Anatoly Karpov Inter-School Chess Tournament was held at Russian Centre for Science and Culture on Sunday, 11th September 2022. BVS Chess Achievers are: U-16 Category : 1st Abdullah Khurram of 10-D, 2nd Mohit Kumar of 8-C, 3rd Saad Ahmed of 10-B. U-12 Category : 1st Maadhav Kumar of 6-B, 2nd Muhammad Aazim Salman of 8-D. Drew a match with a National Master.

Our Chess Prodigy Shahmir Khan also took part in it & got 3rd position as he won a special prize for phenomenal games against Chess Olympians and National Master.1. Defeated a Female chess Olympian, 2. Drew another match with a National Master, 3. Drew another match with a Chess Olympian.

Overall, BVS won 6 awards for the school.

The Primary Section of BVS Parsi High School had their English Project Day on Friday 16th September 2022. “School Projects can give students the opportunity to dive deeper & challenge themselves in an academic area & also acquire knowledge in a hand – on creative way.

GRADE 1 A/B/C students made BVS Primary Passports wherein they stamped Rejected on the areas of the school which are restricted for them & Approval on areas where they are allowed.

GRADE 2 A/B/C students drew a BVS family tree with information & pictures of a few BVS family members like Principal, Primary Headmistress, Administrator, Class Teacher, Subject Teachers & Care takers.

GRADE 3 A/B/C students composed their own fables by using their imagination.

GRADE 4 A/B/C students collected information on events like sports, birthdays of famous people, pop culture, innovations, world events etc. that happened on their birth date or year and made an impressive booklet to record the same. The learning goal of this writing activity was to organize students’ thoughts and make them aware of the world they live in together with developing critical thinking skills.

GRADE 5 A/B/C Why does a school have its own magazine? These were the learning goals for students for their project “Our School Magazine”. They Compiled their own school magazine by feel confident in organizing their thoughts and in expressing critical thinking skills in their articles.

The English Elocution for the secondary section was held on 23rd  September 2022. The secondary elocution consisted of 3 categories namely “D”, “E” & “F”. The poems were chosen by both teachers & students. All the poems were very appreciated by the judges for putting up such a good display. The English elocution Shield was won by M. Usman Khan of 10-C.

The Inter-House Chess Tournament was held on Friday, 30th September 2022 at the Khajurina Auditorium. It was a great success, 32 players from all four houses played. The House Points are: Lancelot house 1st with 17 points,  Soparivala house 2nd with 15 points, Quaid e Azam 3rd  with 07 points and Rezashah house 4th with 05 points.

The Aga Khan Youth Chess Club Tournament was held on 9th October 2022. Arsh Farooq of 6-E stood 1st.

The Inter- House Scrabble Tournament was held on Monday 10th October 2022 inside the Khajurina Auditorium from 8a.m-11a.m. 52 players took part in it. There were three categories: Masters Seniors and Juniors. The House Points are: Rezashah 1st with 34 points, Lancelot  2nd with 18 points, Soparivala 3rd with 15 points and Quaid e Azam 4th with 08 points.

Mirza Taha Hassan, Scrabble U-18 World Champion of 2018 England & Deputy Head Boy of the School 2018-2019 served as the Tournament Jury.

The All-Karachi Inter-School Scrabble Championship was held at DHACSS Phase IV on Thursday 13th October, 2022. It was again a Success for our BVS Players out of 29 best Schools of Karachi. BVS Parsi High School was awarded the Shield for the Best Scrabble School of Karachi. BVS won 23 matches out of 24 and broke its own record at DHACSS.

On Saturday, 15th October, BVS participated in the 3rd Inter School Bilingual Declamation Contest at the Froebel’s School Main Gulshan Campus. Muhammad Yousuf Khatri of 11-D represented BVS in the English Category while Abdul Wahab of 9-B represented the school in the Urdu Category. BVS won the 2nd Position Award in the English Category.

BVS MUNners were Victorious at the Aga Khan University Education Services Model United Nations Conference bagging 17 titles. It was held at Aga Khan College Karimabad from 21st-23rd October 2022. 17 students represented BVS in five committees. Dr. Hina Velji, Principal of Aga Khan College Karimabad was thoroughly impressed by the Delegates performances, as were the external Committee Directors.

The Annual Prize Distribution ceremony held on Sunday, October 23rd , 2022. Mr. Yosuf Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer, Engro Energy Ltd consented to be the Chief Guest. Best Faculty, Best Helper (Peon) & Best Security Guard is also awarded & praised in this ceremony.

The Anatoly Karpov Chess Tournament was held at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture on Sunday 30th October 2022 and our boys were phenomenal. U-16 Category: 1st Mohit Kumar of  8-B , 2nd Saad Ahmed of 10-B. U-12 Category: 1st  Maadhav Kumar of  6-B.

Students of Grades 1, 2 & 3 had brought summer accessories like sunglasses, sun umbrellas, beach hats, sun caps, wore sleeveless T-shirts and shorts too. Students had fruit juices, cucumber, tomato, sandwiches, vegetable shashliks, fresh fruits in break time. BVS is grateful to their talented mums who prepared special summer props like ice lolly, ice-cream, charts, butterfly, sunflower, a watermelon fruit basket filled with summer fruits and fresh coconut with straw. A group photo of each section of Grades 1/ 2/ 3 was taken.

Diwali the festival of lights, honors the victory of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. This year the Hindu members of our BVS family celebrated this festival of lights on 31st October, 2022 with zeal & enthusiasm. Special prayers were held to welcome the Hindu New Year spreading good health & removing all obstacles. BVS wishes its Hindu staff, caretakers and students a Happy Diwali.

A Book Fair was held on 2nd and 3rd November 2022, in the school premises during school timings for Grade IV to XI students.

BVS Chess Team outsmarted their opponents and registered another Victory at Alpha College on Sunday, 6th November 2022. 1. Saad Ahmed of 10-B stood 1st Position  in U13 & U15 category combined 2. Shaheer Khan of 7-E stood 2nd Position. 3. Eibad Ahmed Malik of 10-B & Mohit Kumar of 8-B both stood 3rd Position .4. Abdullah Khurram stood 3rd Pos. in U17 & U19 category combined. 5. Our Past Virbaijeeite Shahmir Khan (2021 Batch) won U17 & U19 category.

Overall, BVS Players were phenomenal in their approach and stamped their authority yet again.

Most underprivileged libraries/ schools in our area will not be able to afford books. On the 7th November 2022, Books were donated to Hashoo Kewalramani School of Arts, Humanities and Social sciences Public Library in Hyderabad. These books were collected from school students for “Book Drive Activity”

BVS hosts its Annual Primary Sports Day each year to commemorate the importance of Sports. This year the Annual Primary Sports Day was held on Saturday 12th November 2022 at the Karachi Parsi Institute Ground. The races concluded with the Fastest House Relay which was won by the Quaid e Azam House. The Chief Guest Mrs. Tushna Patel praised the School Management, the Sports Department & the staff members who helped in making the Sports Day a success. She congratulated the winners & applauded the efforts of the Primary students for their discipline & sportsmen spirit.  The House points are as follows:lancelot house 1st with 154 points, Rezashsh house 2nd with 109 points, Soparivala house 3rd with 99 points and Quaid e Azam house 4th with 98 points.

BVS Scrabble Players were phenomenal in the Scrabble Ranking Tournament, which was held at NJV School on Sunday, 13th November 2022. Master’s Category: Monis Hussain Khan of 10-D Champion of Master’s Category.Category A: Syed Faizan Ahmed of 7-C Champion of this category. Category B:    Saad Vohra of 7-E stood 2nd & Syed Maaz Hassan Faridi of 7-C stood 3rd.

All four Players received shields due to their outstanding performances.

On November 15th, 2022, the Aga Khan University, hosted The AKU President’ s Challenge for Climate Solutions. Three teams were selected for the final round: Aga Khan College Karimabad, Bahria College Karsaaz Cambridge Wing & BVS Parsi School. The BVS team of students, Syed M Zain, Mahd Ahmed, Ali Noor, Ammar Ali & Shaheer Muhammad, all members of the BVS Thunberg Society, were declared the winners of the competition. It was, indeed, well-deserved plaudits & accolades for the winning team from BVS; they had proved themselves the best in a hard-fought competition. Their collective action can have an incredible impact on Climate Solutions today – by coming together.

The Anatoly Karpov Chess Tournament was held at the Russian Centre for Science & Culture on Sunday 20th November 2022. Sarim Hassan Razi of 10-D took part in it and became the Champion of U 16 Age Category. He received a certificate and a cash prize of 800 Rupees.

To celebrate Children’s Day, Primary Section at BVS were allowed to buy a healthy homemade snack box from the school canteen on 21st November 2022. The School Management also gave each student a pencil with “Happy Children’s Day from BVS”, embossed on it.

Grand Parents (Dadas/ Dadis/ Nanas/ Nanis) were invited on 6th December 2022. The grandsons spoke on the importance of grandparents in their lives while grandparents spoke on grand parenting.

The 3rd Scrabble Ranking Tournament was held on Sunday, 18th December 2022 at the BVS Parsi High School. 100 players participated in it from ages 8-70 years. Overall, a great day of Scrabble for BVS participants by winning 1st and 3rd in Novice Category while 4th in the Master’s Category.

The Korangi Academy held their 5th Online City-wide Essay Contest. Syed Sarim Mazhar stood 2nd in the competition and was awarded with a trophy and a certificate.

The Anatoly Karpov Chess Tournament was held at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture and our Chess players were outstanding. BVS participants Saad Ahmed of 10-B became the Champion of Under 16 age category while Abdullah Alam of 5-B stood 2nd in Under 12 age category.

Hoping to meet new challenges in the coming term and facing them with tenacity and gist, me, BVS will rise to the occasion.
