Dear Parents / Guardians

With the blessings of Almighty the second term of the calendar year 2021 –2022 ended with a few hiccups but the school again did the very best to complete its set of goals in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.

On the 6th of January 2022 the BVS Social Spirit Society planned a donation drive to the National Institute Child Health. The generous donations given by the BVS family did not only consist of money but also countless toys, clothes and food items. The drive was conducted after school and was taken to NICH. There the students visited different wards and communicated with the patients and their families to understand their hardships and complications in life. The Social Spirit Society would like to thank the BVS family because this programme would not have been possible without your support.

The Primary Section of BVS Parsi High School spread love, joy and happiness on the 14th & 15th of February 2022. Different Craft Activities of the students were appreciated by the principal in the morning assembly.

The BVS Hoodbhoy Science Society conducted its 7th annual and 2nd virtual Science Olympiad on the 25th & 26th of February for students of grade 9 to 11. 150 participants from different schools registered. This event was conducted on Zoom and online instant communication application ‘Discord’. It comprised of five modules – Cytology– Chemicaze (Bio – Chemistry) Schodinger’s Web (Physics) Pythagoras Pantheon (Mathematics) Lawiers (logic) Sphinx’s Dungeon (Trivia). It was a very tough competition and the BVS boys worked very hard.

The Hindu family of BVS celebrated the festival of colors – Holi on Friday 11th March 2022 with special prayers and splashing vibrant colors to brighten our lives with happiness and prosperity.

After a gap of two years the Primary Section (Grades 1 / 2 / 3) rocked the morning of Saturday 12th March 2022 by songs which they had learnt with the music instructor, Mr. Arif Bharucha in their music classes Besides Urdu & English songs they also sang Indonesian, Malaysian and Spanish songs. It was a lively and colorful event.

The Shah Wilayat School organized a Bilingual Declamation contest on 22nd  March 2022. Syed Jari Abbas Rizvi of class participated in the English category & Muhammad Ahmed of class 8D in the Urdu category who also won the second position.

On Thursday March 17th 2022, BVS Parsi High School and Mama Parsi Girl’s Secondary School signed off on the Progression Grids for Zoroastrians Religion grades 1-10 to be included into the Single National Curriculum (SNC). On Thursday 17th March 2022 BVS Parsi High School and Mama Parsi Girl’s Secondary School welcomed Dr. Mariam Chughtai Director National Curriculum Council at school with the band playing the National Anthem. After the signing ceremony a ‘Haft – seen’ table was displayed depicting Jamshedi Nauroze and ended with a High-tea of Parsi as well as Iranian dishes.

The Holy month of Ramzan is the month of giving and a time to show support for the cause of humanity by helping the less privileged within our communities, the BVS Social Spirit Society took an initiative this year by serving Iftar on two days i.e. 14th and 15th April 2022. The first day Iftar Drive at Ida Rieu College for Blind and Deaf and the other one was Darul Sukun for Senior Residents. The Iftar Team packed the fruits and carried the food in the van. All the teachers and students participated whole heartedly in the preparation of Iftari with the senior members. After that, lunch boxes were served to all the people at Darul Sukun . It was a great day over all.

On Thursday 21st April, 2022 the students celebrated Earth Day and paid tribute to our Mother Earth, the BVS management entertained the students of grades 1 / 2 / 3 with pop corns, candy floss and enjoyment on the bouncing slide at school.  The students came to school dressed in Earth colors i.e. blue, brown, green. The students enjoyed the day a lot.

On  Wednesday 27th April 2022, twenty-seven smart looking mums from each section of grades 1 / 2 / 3 entered the gates of BVS along with their sons to take over their son’s class as teachers for the day, giving relief to our teachers. At the end of the day, The exhausted mums had a chit chat with the Primary Head Mistress, and praised the efforts of the teachers who manage the hyper boys every day. BVS management warmly reciprocates the efforts of the mums who made their sons and the school proud. Thank – you Mummies.

On Monday 23rd May 2022, the BVS family celebrated the school’s 163rd orbit around the sun with zeal and fervor, Two past virbaijeeites (batch of 1989) Mr. Amir Rasool Paracha CEO Unilever and Mr. Yousuf Siddiqui CEO Engro Vopak joined in the celebration on the sultry morning with the school band playing the National Anthem, School Song and then the birthday song. Prayers for school’s prosperity were offered first by a Zoroastrian Priest,   followed by Zaigham Abbas of grade 8D who recited from the Holy Quran, Rishit Kumar of 9D recited the Gayatri Mantra from the Bhagvat Gita and lastly our young Christian student Abner Othniel prayed for the school’s prosperity from the Holy Bible. A magic and juggling show was organized by the BVS Management, which was thoroughly enjoyed by both the students & the staff. Every student and the whole staff was treated to a yummy Cornetto cone by CEO Unilever Mr. Amir Rasool Paracha. A big thank you to all who sent us birthday messages on social media, emails and through cards.

Students of grade 1 A/ B / C chose a character for dress up / acted like  doctors, engineers, bakers, officers, Harry Potter, Super Man, Pilot, Army, Navy, Prince, Vampire, Zoologist, Astronaut, Palcontologist etc. Some even chose to be animals like cow, deer, lion, horse etc BVS is thankful to all the mums and even dads for their hard work.

Students of grade 2 A / B / C brought in dusters, wipers, mops, dustpans, brushes, brooms, garbage bags, scotch brite sponges, buckets etc to scrub the floors, walls, desks, doors, windows of their classes. BVS feels proud that such chores will teach the boys to be responsible, develop confidence and boost their self esteem in a playful manner.

Students of grade 3 A /B / C made different sandwiches with fillings of sausages, cheese, butter, spreads, eggs, veggies, chicken, tuna slices etc under the guidance of their teachers. BVS is proud that our boys will not go hungry when there is no one around to cook for them, since they know how to make sandwiches for themselves.

To honour the mothers of grades 1 / 2 / 3 and express respect and love towards them, different art and craft activities were conducted by the Primary Art teachers.

Inaugurated the Deeno Mistri Urban forest situated near Dolmen Mall, Clifton with the suport of Imtiaz Stores Mrs. Mistri is the late Principal of BVS Parsi High School.

Ten staff members, including the Principal took a three hours walk, around the Pakistan Chowk, Arambagh area to better  understand the Cultural Heritage of Karachi, our history and the ancestry that binds the pluralistic society diaspora of Karachi.

The Islamiat Projects for grades 1-5 proved to be a great source of learning for all. The students of grade 1 gained knowledge about Islamic calendar, religious festivals and auspicious days. The knowledge about the  Islamic month of Rajab and Shawwal was imparted to grade 2 and the experience of how Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated. The students of grade 3 learned the significance of the month of Shaban and Ramzan. The pupils of grade 4 learned about the month of Muharram and the sacrifice given by the prophet’s family members. The month of Zilhaj was chosen for the fifth grades. This project taught them the importance of Hajj and sacrifice. Students also memorized the statements of Talbiyah and Takbir.

The Secondary track events were held on 16th Dec 2021, All the 4 houses participated enthusiastically in all the events. The Soparivala house came 1st with 275 points, the Rezashah house came 2nd with 273 points. The Quaid e Azam house came 3rd with 268 points and The Lancelot house came 4th with 254 points.
